This practice, recognized as an Olympic sport, has generated many competitions since 1924. Popular for over a century, Nordic skiing is one the most enjoyed winter sport. And no need to go to Northern Europe, Canada or Russia to practice it since 7 of the resorts of the Pyrenees of Lleida are specialized in this discipline.
This region offers not only unequalled experience in terms of Nordic skiing but also landscapes in a felted space where snow rhymes with tranquility and serenity. Lleida is not only the Spanish province with the largest number of Nordic ski resorts, but it is also the region with the largest ski area thanks to a circuit, the Pollineres circuit, which allows a connection between Lles de Cerdanya and Aransa and which offers a network of 68 km of tracks. A satisfaction survey established in 2016/2017 by a group of municipalities in Catalonia has also shown that the skiers of these 7 resorts particularly appreciate the good track record, the variety of the circuits and cleanliness of access.
In a family-friendly space, the Aransa and Tuixent La Vansa resorts offer several trails and offer an introduction to nOrdic skiing for beginners. The Virós – Vallferrera ski station gives the opportunity to vary the pleasures since it offers a wide choice of complementary activities.
Close to nature
20 km of snowshoe trails and 37 km of cross-country trails. This is what Lles de Cerdenya’s visitors are to expect when discovering the resort. Nature is a key word as it best defines the spot. The latter welcomes many visitors whether it is during winter or summer and gives you the opportunity to take shelter at Cape del Rec for an even more authentic experience.
Located further down the Castellbò valley, the Sant Joan de l’Erm ski resort provides no less than 50 km of Nordic skiing trails right in the heart of the forest. Divided according to the difficulty, the tracks offer fresh air among the pines. Ideal to recharge your batteries.
If you can’t choose
Both Baqueira and Tavascan resorts have various tracks. For those who prefer to alternate or try out different sports, there are slopes for nordic skiing and downhill ski runs. If Baqueira is the largest ski station in Catalonia and Spain, Tavascan also offers a great experience but in a more peaceful atmosphere because of its size and its 7 tracks in total. Ideal for those seeking tranquility.
The Nordic ski resorts of Catalonia, gathered and organized around the label “Tot Nordic” (All Nordic), and offer a season package for adults and for children. This package has the advantage of being used in all the resorts of the label, thus, in all the Nordic ski resorts of Catalonia. It seems crystal clear that Nordic skiing fans should spend their winter in Lleida’s Pyrénées.
The 6 northern resorts of the Pyrenees of Lleida are: Aransa – Lles de Cerdanya – Sant Joan of the Erm, Tuixent-la Vansa and Vallferrera. The 2 so-called mixed stations (Alpin and Nordic): Baqueira Beret and Tavascan.
